Oracle Lagoon to Coyote Point

This hike is from Oracle Lagoon in Redwood City to Coyote Point Recreation Area in San Mateo. We hiked on October 1, 2016, Saturday. One way is about 9 miles, below is the hiking map:

This route is the half of our B2B hiking (Bridge to Bridge, Dumbarton Bridge to San Mateo Bridge). We will hike the other half in another time from Dumbarton Bridge in Menlo Park to Oracle Lagoon.

Oracle Lagoon is really a beautiful place to visit. We had group picture there.

Go to the other side of the street from the cross of Marine Pkwy & Oracle Pkwy, and walk on Bay Trail, then shortly go to the Oracle Bridge.

After the bridge, that’s the Belmont Slough Trail (part of Bay Trail), this part is along the Belmont Slough.

When you arrive in Foster City, the view becomes different, since you will see the Bay, Dumbarton Bridge in the South and San Mateo Bridge in the North.

A lot of members jumps here, most of them jump higher than the bridge, even higher than the airplane. 🙂

Many people commute on the bridge every day, but they don’t really know how this bridge look like. You have to walk along the trail then you know how beautiful the curve of the bridge is.

Go under the bridge, you will see the trees in Coyote Point, Bay Bridge, San Francisco, Oakland.

Here is a surfing place. Not many people surf here in the morning, but more people do in the evening especially in Summer.

There is a golf course in San Mateo Shoreline Parks. You can see airplanes fly very low at the slope of the hill.

There is a small bridge to Coyote Point, you can turn back to watch the San Mateo Bridge here with a better view.

The airplanes here are quite low now, just above our heads. Actually Coyote Point Recreation Area is known as the best place to watch airplanes taking off or landing in the San Francisco International Airport.

This route is easy and you don’t need to drive long from your home, so it’s good for anybody, best season is Fall, Spring and Summer.
